Glastonbury, Connecticut is exactly what a New England town is supposed to look like. With just about 35,000 residents, and perched on the shore of the Connecticut River, this place is a picture-perfect city. And one that is just ripe for a neighborhood independent bookstore. And the River Bend Bookshop is just that!!
The River Bend Bookshop is a wonderful meeting place for young and old alike, serving up choice titles for all book lovers. There are many live events here, including many author appearance.
In fact local writer Marty Podskoch came here to talk about his new Connecticut travel book, “The Connecticut 169 Club,” which explore 169 towns and villages across the state. Here is his bio:
“East Hampton, CT Author and Historian Marty Podskoch scripted a brilliant solution for fragmented families and town-tied locals. With his latest Book, The Connecticut 169 Club: Your Passport and Guide to Exploring Connecticut. Podskoch navigates readers from out behind the blue screen, off the interstate and onto Connecticut backroads to meet and merge with fascinating neighbors and uncover cool curiosities tucked into the 169 towns and cities in the Nutmeg State.”
So, with Marty coming for an appearance, what better way to greet him than with these book-themed cookies! I wonder if they were “nutmeg cookies?” Perfect!
There are two brick-and-mortar locations for the bookshop, plus a very popular book truck!
Kids love this little bookshop, and you will always see groups of kids checking out all of the new titles to take home and devour. They love a good story time here!
